Anantnag: In an unnerving incident, a hospital in south Kashmir’s  Dooru Anantnag has run out of x-ray films and is instructing patients to take pictures of their scans in order to print out radiographs.

Sources told Arising state that it appears that the hospital itself does not have X-ray films on hand, which explains why the hospital is asking patients to take a picture of the X-ray on their phone for medical examination by their doctor.

While talking with Arising State, Fareed Ahmad Khan, a patient suffering from a common cold cough disease while being treated at the hospital a few days back said that he had visited the hospital for a consultation several days earlier and the doctor recommended an x-ray.

”I followed the doctor’s prescription and walked to the X-ray section to get it done. Having completed all the formalities, I proceeded to the counter to get the X-ray film. However, the staff member at the counter asked me to take a picture of the X-ray instead of giving me the film.”

According to sources, the sub-hospital has also been running without its superintendent for the past five months since the superintendent in charge of the hospital was transferred and promoted to chief medical officer.

In the meantime, speaking to Arising state ,CMO Anantnag Dr. MY Zagoo stated that the X-ray department of the hospital directly sends the shots to the doctor concerned as this is a digital project coined as Teleconsultation undertaken by the Government of India. ‘The hospital also has x-ray films available for the admitted patients,’ he said.
