Anantnag, July 20: The residents of Bonadialgam village in Anantnag district have been grappling with the distressing issue of contaminated drinking water through their taps for the past several days.

A concerned delegation from the area recently spoke with Arising State, revealing the alarming state of affairs. “The drinking water is muddy and emits a pungent smell, making it unfit for consumption. Unfortunately, our water tank lacks a filtration system, resulting in several people, including innocent children, falling ill after consuming this contaminated water,” shared a local resident.

Upon investigation, Exen PHE Bijbehara, Mohd Sareer, shed light on the root cause of the problem. “Due to the recent flash floods, sewage water has seeped into the tubewell located in the water tank. To address this issue, we urgently require a compressor to extract the sewage water. I have already taken up the matter with the Mechanical Department, and we expect a resolution within a week,” assured Mohd Sareer while speaking with  Arising State.
