Punjab based narcotics smuggler arrested, 391.500 kg of poppy straw recovered by district Police Samba
In a major breakthrough in its war against drugs, District Police Samba has arrested a Punjab based narcotics smuggler and recovered 391.500 kg of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) in the jurisdiction of P/S Bari Brahmana.
Acting on reliable information regarding the transportation of huge consignment of narcotics from Kashmir towards Punjab, a Police team of PS Bari Brahmana laid a strong vehicle checking Naka at Balole, Bari Brahmana and intercepted one dumper vehicle bearing Regd. No. JK15-0236 which was coming from Valley and moving toward Punjab.
During checking of said vehicle, 20 bags weighing a total of 391.500 kg of Poppy Straw were recovered which were concealed tactically to avoid being noticed during the search.
The accused driver identified as Nirmal Singh S/o Balbir Singh R/O Malpur Hoshiarpur, Punjab has been arrested on the spot and the recovered contraband item was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 177/2020 U/S 8/15/25/29 NDPS Act registered at P/S Bari Brahmana and further investigation started.
