Polling parties dispatched for Phase VII in Anantnag

Anantnag: Ahead of the Phase VII District Development Council (DDC) elections and Panchayat/ULB Bye Elections, 285 polling parties along with election/poll material were dispatched today from the designated Distribution Centres under the supervision of Nodal officer poll material Mr. Shahnawaz Ahmad and BDO’s Anantnag & Sagam.
Under this phase, polling will be held for Anantnag & Sagam DDC seats, Panch and Sarpanch vacancies (where ever necessary) in these blocks, and ULB vacancies (where ever necessary) in Municipal Council Anantnag & Municipal Committee Kokernag on 16h of December 2020.
For DDC seat Anantnag, 11 candidates are in the fray and for DDC seat Sagam, 17 candidates are in the fray, whose political fate will be decided by 42880 and 22793 electors respectively.
Meanwhile, District Panchayat Election Officer, Mr.K.K.Sidha, along with Deputy DPEO reviewed the arrangements and Basic Minimum Facilities (BMF’s) in the Polling stations like accommodation for polling staff, food, bedding, heating and lighting facilities, provision of drinking water, etc besides facilities for specially-abled voters.
The DPEO exhorted for facilitating every basic amenity in the Polling stations so that voters, as well as polling staff, may not face any kind of inconvenience. All the arrangements for facilitating smooth conduct of polls for this phase have been put in place.
