J&K Education Department Sets Minimum Age for Nursery Admissions
Jammu, Nov 30: The School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has issued new guidelines regarding the minimum age for children seeking admission to Nursery, Balvatika, Pre-School, and Anganwadi programs.
This step comes in response to requests for aligning the admission process with the recently reinstated November-December academic calendar in Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division.
As per the circular, the minimum age requirement complies with the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020), which stipulates that children must be over three years old to enroll in these programs.
To ensure uniformity, the department has set November 30 of the admission year as the cut-off date for calculating a child’s minimum age.
Schools in Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division have been directed to strictly follow these guidelines, aiming to streamline the admission process and ensure compliance with NEP-2020.
