Anantnag, 30 March: The dearth of teaching staff in several schools in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has taken a toll on the academics of the students and exposed the flawed rationalization of teachers done by the school education department here in south Kashmir’s Anantnag District.

Over the years, the school education department has been making tall claims of undertaking rationalization of the teaching staff. However, the students enrolled in various government schools of remote areas continue to affect due to the lack of teaching staff and basic facilities.

The government Middle School Mallah Awoora Pahalgam of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district is painting a grim picture of education sector here in Anantnag District with institute having only 4 teachers to teach 275 students up to 8th.

The parents whose wards are enrolled in the school, while talking to the Arising state said that the school has total enrollment of 275 students, adding that only 4 teachers have been deputed to teach all the students, while other posts are lying vacant for a long time.

The locals said that the school also lacks the basic infrastructure and proper accommodation.

Our wards enrolled in the school are facing immense hardships, locals said.

  1. The school is a glaring example of the UT’s poor education system. “The children of the poor like us are left at God’s mercy,” said a local resident to Arising state adding that “how can the students of this school compete with the students of other schools without any facilities.

However, the Students and Local residents have made an appeal to the concerned department officials to send more teachers to the school so that the future of the enrolled students may not get ruined.

In this context Arising sate carried, few days back, a story from the primary school here in shelipora kehirbal area of Anantnag District with headline ,“This Government Primary school in Anantnag has 3 teachers 5 students, this school has lot to offer, but no students to take the offer”.

The school was established 15 years back in the village. The school is about 20 km’s away from the main town in Anantnag District with a total roll of 5 students. There are 3 teachers including the headmaster posted in the school. The school is placed in a three-room newly constructed building. The school has 6 six bathrooms in the name of facilities.

“The question arises why administration or the education department overlooks such grave mistakes when solution lies with them.Keeping fingers crossed and waiting things to get corrected on it’s own  is not just the solution .The high time for department to wake up” ,said few locals while speaking with Arising state.

Meanwhile, locals of  appealed to the Director School Education Kashmir, and Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to look into the matter and depute  more teachers in the school.
