DDC election-Phase III: 15.03% votes polled in Aripal block of Pulwama

Pulwama, 04 December: In the third phase of the DDC election held on Friday, 15.03% of votes polled in the Aripal block of Pulwama district.
The voting was started early in the morning, in which a good number of voters particularly in upper reaches came out amid winter chill and cast the votes in favour of the candidate of their choice.
However, in most of the places, a very few number of voters were seen near polling booths to cast their votes, due to which percentage remained 15.03% only.
As per the official figures, 3821 voters were cast in total out of 25429, in which 2339 votes were cast by men while 1482 votes were cast by women.
Pertinently, a polling booth in Gutroo village in upper reaches of Aripal recorded the highest number of votes with 73.5%, while one of the booths in Diver village received no vote for the full day.
The voting was held amid heavy security arrangements in nook & corner, and internet clampdown for around 24 hours in PD Awantipora.
A group of voters told Arising State that they cast votes for the overall development of their villages, “promotion of Nagabaren upper reach in Aripal tehsil as tourist place by constructing road towards it, and to get other facilities”.
In the fourth phase of the ongoing DDC election, voting will be held in the Awantipora block of Pulwama on 7th of December.
