Commemoration of Police Martyrs in Budgam: A Tribute to Bravery and Sacrifice

Budgam, 21st October : In a solemn and heartfelt ceremony, Police Commemoration Day was observed at the District Police Lines in Budgam. The event, presided over by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Shri Al-Tahir Gilani-JKPS, saw the participation of various civil and para-military officers, including Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shri Akshay Labroo-IAS, Commandant 14th Bn SSB, Dy CO 43 Bn CRPF, Dy. SP (now SP(CIU)) Budgam, Shri Aijaz Malik-JKPS and Dy. SP DAR Budgam.
The commemorative event, held at the District Police Lines in Budgam, featured contingents from the District Police, 43 Bn CRPF, and IRP 20th Bn. In a heartfelt tribute to the valiant police martyrs, all the officers present paid their respects by offering floral tributes.
On this poignant occasion, SSP Budgam shed light on the significance of Police Commemoration Day and read aloud the names of the police martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation in the line of duty over the past year, while defending the motherland. SSP Budgam emphasized that as the nation observes Police Commemoration Day, it’s a time to honor the bravery, valor, and sacrifices of these courageous martyrs, who gave their lives to uphold the unity and integrity of the nation and to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
The ceremony continued with the laying of wreaths and the showering of flowers by SSP Budgam, other officers, and jawans from the District Police Budgam, as well as the esteemed guests and members of the martyrs’ families. In a gesture of warmth and support, the district officers distributed blankets among the Next of Kin (NoKs) of police martyrs. Later, SSP Budgam listened to the grievances of the families of police martyrs and assured them that their concerns would be promptly addressed.
