Budgam Police arrests drug Peddler; contraband substance recovered

BUDGAM: 30 June 2022:  Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

During Naka checking at Waragam Crossing, police party of Police Station Beerwah intercepted one person while coming by foot from Waragam towards Dassan Carring a Nylon Bag on his Shoulder and roaming in suspicious circumstances.
During his personal search 05 KGs of grinded Cannabis like powder was recovered from his possession.
The drug peddler was arrested on spot and subsequently identified as:-
Altaf Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Mashun Dassan.

Case FIR number 78/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Beerwah. During questioning he further tipped off that he has stored further quantity of Cannabis Material at his residential place. Accordingly a raid in presence of a Magistrate was carried out at his house and recovered 5kg of contraband grinded Cannabis like substance which was kept hidden by the accused in a pigeon pen made at his residence.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
