Awantipora Police arrested 03 drug smugglers, 400 KGS of poppy straw recovered

Awantipora: Awantipora Police on Thursday arrested three drug smugglers and recovered 400 KGS of poppy straw from their possession.

As per the police, “During vehicular checking at naka point Beighpora Crossing, Police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Chowki Officer SI Ali Mohammad signalled one vehicle dumper to stop, but instead of stopping the vehicle, the persons in the dumper fled away. Police Party chased the dumper and stopped it at some distance from naka check point.”

“During the search of dumper vehicle, 400 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered and seized by the Police Party which was concealed in 20 large bags kept inside the space specially created in the body of the dumper.”

Police said the camouflaged space created for the transport of consignment was difficult to find out, until checked thoroughly by the Police Party.

The three drug smugglers have been arrested and were identified as: Mohammad Mushtaq S/o Mohammad Ismaeel R/o Kuthala Ferozpur Sangroor Punjab, Mustafa S/o Abdul Lateef R/oKuthiala Ferozpur Sangroor Punjab, Umer Farooq Wani S/o Farooq Ahmad Wani R/o Budriwan Pulwama.

Vehicle dumper bearing registration number JK19 -1210 used in the commission of the said crime has also been seized

Case FIR Number 27/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Awantipora.
