Anantnag: In a concerning development, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) in District Anantnag allegedly bypassed standard government procedures by directly issuing a letter to the Headmaster of MS Achabal, instructing participation in a program in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The incident, which occurred last month, was initially highlighted by Arising State. However, despite the exposure, the administration has yet to take action against the employees and officials involved in the procedural violations.

The NYKS Anantnag reportedly flouted departmental protocols by bypassing the mandated process of routing communication through registered youth clubs in the district. Instead, a direct letter, bearing reference number NYK/Ang/DYO/2024-2025/133-134 and dated 02-11-2024, was sent to MS Achabal. The letter, signed by an NYKS employee on behalf of the Deputy Director, instructed the headmaster to permit a teacher and two girl students to participate in the program.

Sources confirm that the letter originated from the NYKS office in Anantnag, raising concerns over the breach of protocol. Calls for an official investigation have intensified.

Adding to the controversy, the Headmaster of MS Achabal allegedly violated regulations by allowing students to travel outside the Union Territory (UT) without obtaining prior approval from the education department. In response, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Anantnag initiated action against the headmaster and constituted a four-member committee to investigate the matter.

The NYKS, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is tasked with fostering youth empowerment and community development through its network of voluntary youth clubs. However, this incident has raised questions about its adherence to procedural standards.

Efforts by Arising State to contact concerned department officials for a response were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.

The incident has sparked widespread concern, with demands for a thorough investigation to identify procedural lapses and ensure accountability for those responsible.
