Srinagar, Dec 3: Tanvir Sadiq, Chief Spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), has called for the immediate restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the urgent need for a government of the people.
Sadiq highlighted that the Supreme Court’s recent direction aligns with the widespread demand for expedited statehood restoration. He also noted that the first resolution passed by the local government’s cabinet after the region’s reorganization had endorsed the restoration of statehood. “Given these developments, the time has come for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to regain their rightful governance without further delay,” he asserted.
Turning to the challenges faced by the region, Sadiq addressed the persistent power shortages that have been a significant concern for residents. He assured that the government remains committed to resolving the crisis, stating, “Power issues continue to be a major challenge, but efforts are underway to address them as promised in our manifesto.”
With winter approaching, Sadiq emphasized the administration’s proactive measures to provide relief to the population during the harsh season. “We are working diligently to implement necessary measures before winter intensifies, ensuring some respite for the people,” he added.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment, Sadiq assured that all promises made under Omar Abdullah’s leadership would be fulfilled within the five-year term, pledging accountability and delivery on all fronts.
