AS: Several applicants who had appeared for various exams for advertised positions at GMC Anantnag last year are expressing their frustration with the GMC administration. They allege that the administration has not released the selection lists for the exams they took last year.

While speaking  with Arising State, these applicants claim that the GMC Anantnag administration’s delay in releasing the selection lists is jeopardizing their future prospects. They contend that the GMC administration has failed to make public the selection lists for the posts they applied for after last year’s exams.

One of the applicants, Shahid, shared his experience with Arising State. He said, “Last year, I applied for the position of lab technician when GMC Anantnag advertised various posts. We took the exam in April 2023, and on August 2, 2023, GMC Anantnag posted a merit list on their official website. However, since then, the GMC administration has not issued the selection list, which has forced us to take to the streets.”

In a recent development, sources have revealed that a meeting was held last week by GMC officials to address the recruitment and selection process for candidates who applied for various posts advertised last year. Prior to the meeting, a committee was formed at GMC Anantnag to investigate the recruitment process due to several complaints received regarding the process.

The committee recommended further evaluation by a more competent authority and suggested the cancellation of the selection process. According to sources, the minutes of the meeting indicated that the examination process’s transparency and fairness were questioned because it was discovered that the children of the then Administrative Officer (AO) had also appeared in the examination.

It’s worth noting that, according to the minutes of the meeting, the son of the then AO had taken the examination for the post of Theater Assistant/Technician but didn’t mention the delay in the selection list for other positions, such as Jr. Staff Nurse, Technical Assistant/Technician, Clinical Staff for Casualty Bed, N&P Staff, Radiographic, Anesthesia, ECG, Dental Technician.

The officials who played crucial roles in the examination process, including superintendents, evaluators, and the then Administrative Officer, were contacted for their statements. They stated that the examination process was conducted fairly and transparently.

In light of the committee’s minutes, which didn’t qualify for scrutinizing a matter of this importance and suggested cancellation without concrete evidence against the examination’s conduct, there is a growing demand to release the selection lists for all posts without further delay.

In response, Nowshad Ahmad JKAS, the Administrative Officer of GMC Anantnag, assured that the selection lists for previous advertisements would be released soon. He added that candidates would be selected on a merit basis. He explained that there were some issues in the recruitment process that have now been resolved. The selection lists will be released in the coming days.
