Authorities disallows friday prayer at Jamia masjid on second consecutive Friday
Srinagar, 20th Oct:Anjuman-i- Auqaf Jama Masjid said that for the second consecutive Friday, police officials once again closed the gates of Jama Masjid Srinagar and informed the Auqaf not to open the gates for Friday prayers. Meanwhile Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that after being allowed to offer Friday prayers and deliver Friday sermon at Jama Masjid finally after four years of house detention, authorities once again stopped him for the second consecutive Friday from going to Jama Masjid . He said since 15th of October he continues to be under house detention and is not allowed to move out . Mirwaz deeply regretted the repeated targeting of Jama Masjid Srinagar by closing it to Muslims on Fridays and disallowing them from offering obligatory Friday prayers. He said such measures belie the claim of “normalcy “that the authorities make and instead cause great unease and hurt among the Muslims.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is scheduled to address a Seerat Majlis tomorrow (Saturday) after Zuhr prayer and will also shed light on the life of the revered Islamic personality Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) at Aastan Aaliya Pir Dastgir Sahib, Sarai Bala, Srinagar, the Anjuman informed.
