12 Kgs of Poppy Straw recovered from Beerwah House; Smuggler Arrested

BUDGAM,JUNE 01: In a major success against narcotics smuggling, Budgam Police has recovered a huge quantity 12 KGS of Poppy Straw from the house of a narcotics smuggler at Hardulatina Beerwah area of district Budgam.

It was learnt that one Parvez Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Salaam Ganie resident of Hardulatina Beerwah is indulging in narcotics smuggling and has hoarded & concealed a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his house. A police team from Police station Beerwah in collaboration with outPost Hardipanzo headed by Sub.Insp. Ali Mohammad was constituted to raid the house along with local executive Magistrate.The police team under the supervision of executive Magistrate Beerwah raided the specific house and conducted search. During search, police party was able to recover 12 KGS of Poppy Straw from said house. Accused drug smuggler has been arrested from the spot.

A Case FIR number 63/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Beerwah & investigation taken up. The investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected.
It had earlier surfaced that the drug smuggler has been indulging in narcotics smuggling across the district and was changing his modus operandi frequently for Commission of illicit trade. The accused was kept under discreet surveillance by Budgam Police for monitoring his activities and modus operandi.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
