Pulwama: Several water ponds in the Tral sub-district of South Kashmir have turned pathetic with concerned officials showing no concern over the issue.

Locals told Arising State that some ponds in the main town Tral are in a dilapidated condition, as the presence of garbages and deadwood are accumulated in these ponds, creating inconvenience for the people around.

They said that educational institutions and shops are located around these ponds, particularly around Batnag and Wudnag, which have turned filthy.

The residents further said that these ponds are historical, which used to provide clean water to the nearby localities in past.

Abdul Hamid, a local said that the pitiable condition of ponds, located near his shop, need to be cleaned at the earliest.

Similarly, other residents have said that all such water bodies must be maintained to keep the area clean.

However, an official in Municipal Committee Tral has said that they will be cleaning the water ponds in Tral soon.

He said that people should co-operate with the officials and shouldn’t put wastage in the water bodies.
