Tribal Department delaying scholarship unnecessarily: JKSSM

Share

Jammu: Waiting for the financial assistance, yearly scholarship for months together, the officials of Tribal Affairs Department authorities have reportedly held the scholarships of students in J&K for more than a year hence depriving the students of their further studies.

This was stated by Shouqat Ali Choudhary, President Jammu Kashmir Saaf Suthra Movement (JKSSM) in a statement issued here today.

Choudhary alleged the Tribal department for not functioning properly and making them move from pillar to post. “We have applied for the scholarships a year ago during our last academic session but so far we haven’t received the financial assistance,” Choudhary said and added that this has hampered their further studies as they have to get admissions, and pay other dues and charges related to their education. Thousands of students are deprived of the scholarship schemes as the Tribal Department is in deep slumber, he said.

Choudhary demanded that the scholarship be disbursed at the earliest among the students and appealed to LG, Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and instruct the authorities to address their long pending issue.

Meanwhile, saying that the people are ignored during the ongoing Back to Village phases III programme, Choudhary said that the initiative is proving to be a flop show with issues and demands of people not being addressed and officials failing to reach out to the masses. He said that people should be involved in the decision making process within the administration and issues of needy people should be addressed with on spot directions.Choudhary appealed to the LG J&K to take keen steps to concerns of students besides taking steps to make the B2V3 programme a success.
