Top LeT Commander among two militants killed in Sopore Firefight: IGP Kashmir

Top Lashkar-e-Toiba Commander among the two militants were killed in an encounter at Warpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said one of killed militant identified as Fayaz War was involved in several attacks and killings of civilians, security forces. “He was last perpetrator of violences in North Kashmir, ” he said.

The IGP futher said that Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered and Search going on.

Earlier a Joint team of security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation after specific inputs about presence of militants in the area.

As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
