SSP Sopore chairs monthly crime, law & order review meeting

Sopore, September 11 : SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib on Friday chaired the monthly Crime, Law & Order and Security Review Meeting at the Conference Hall of DPO Sopore, reviewing the overall crime situation, investigation of cases, public service delivery, law and order preparedness and the security scenario across Police District Sopore.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP Sopore, SDPOs, DySP DAR, DySP Operations, Senior Prosecuting Officer (Sr. PO) DPO Sopore, SHOs and DOs.

A threadbare review of old pending cases as well as current-year cases under investigation was conducted during the meeting. Officers were directed to ensure quality and time-bound investigation, expedite the disposal of pending cases and strictly adhere to the timelines prescribed under the new criminal laws.

Particular emphasis was laid on the effective implementation of provisions of the new criminal laws to ensure prompt and hassle-free delivery of police services to the general public.

The crime review also focused on cases related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), crimes against women and children, property offences and other serious crimes.

Officers were directed to strengthen investigation and follow-up mechanisms and ensure effective action against drug trafficking and other organised criminal activities.

The law and order and security preparedness across the district was also reviewed in detail, with particular focus on vulnerable areas and locations. Officers were directed to maintain a high degree of alertness, strengthen area domination and surveillance, enhance inter-unit coordination and increase intelligence-based counter-terror operations.

SSP Sopore also stressed the timely disposal of verifications and other public services, prompt redressal of grievances and increased interaction with citizens through regular public outreach programmes.

SHOs and field officers were directed to remain accessible to the public and strengthen police-public cooperation at the grassroots level.

Concluding the meeting, SSP Sopore directed all officers to maintain professionalism, accountability and close supervision at every level, with sustained focus on effective investigation, public service delivery, law and order management and maintenance of a secure and peaceful environment across Police District Sopore.
