Srinagar-Sonmarg road reopens, after four months
The Srinagar -Sonamarg road was thrown open for traffic on Monday after remaining closed for nearly four months due to snowfall.
On Monday, authorities said that Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri highway from Gagangeer upto tourist resort Sonamarg has been opened for vehicles. District Administration Ganderbal said that from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm traffic will be allowed to ply. “The traffic will be allowed only subject to fair weather conditions,” they said, adding that during avalanche warnings. “Night stay shall not be allowed till the restoration of electricity,” they said.
Pertinent to mention, due to heavy snowfall, Zojilla pass remains cut off to normal traffic for nearly four months.
