PM Modi speaks with Iranian president, calls for Immediate de-escalation and return to dialogue
New Delhi, June 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday amid spiralling tensions in West Asia following U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites and Tehran’s retaliatory missile attacks.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the recent escalations in the region and underscored the urgent need for restraint from all parties involved.
The Prime Minister said in a post on social media platform X, “spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability.”
