Jammu : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday declared that Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing historic elections, with the BJP poised to form its first full majority government in the Union Territory. Addressing a massive election rally in Jammu, Modi highlighted the significance of the September 2016 surgical strikes, stating they had shaken India’s enemies and ensured that no one would dare to undermine the country’s sovereignty. He vowed to track down the “mentors of terrorism” wherever they hide.

Modi criticized the Congress for questioning the surgical strikes and linked their demands for proof to their unsuitability for votes. He paid tribute to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary and expressed confidence in the people’s growing support for the BJP, pointing to their dissatisfaction with the Congress, PDP, and NC.

Modi emphasized that the people of J&K want peace, not a return to the old days of corruption, terrorism, and separatism. He assured that the BJP government would provide a brighter future and address longstanding disparities, especially in Jammu, which he described as having suffered from injustice under previous governments.

He further accused Congress of disrespecting soldiers and delaying the implementation of the One Rank, One Pension scheme, which his government has since enhanced. Modi concluded by promising the implementation of the Tika Lal Taplu scheme for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.
