“Perplexed Thoughts-Tales from Kashmir” Unveiled at GDC for Women Pulwama

PULWAMA, October 22, 2023 – In a celebration of literature, culture, and the indomitable spirit of Kashmir, Government Degree College for Women Pulwama played host to a momentous book launch event. The stage was set for the unveiling of “Perplexed Thoughts – Tales from Kashmir,” a highly-anticipated anthology, marking a significant milestone for The Kashmir Pulse, a prominent literary platform in the region.

Themed “Read, Write and Recreate,” the event was a collaboration between The Kashmir Pulse and the college’s Department of English, fostering a creative dialogue between aspiring writers and seasoned authors. The event saw the participation of distinguished personalities, including Dr. Tanvir Hayat, a prominent educationist, Mr. Sarfaraz Ahmad, State Taxation Officer, Mrs. Saima Jamal, an esteemed author, Dr. Yasmeen Farooq, Principal of Government Degree College Pulwama, and Mr. Showkat Rafiq Wani, the SP Headquarter Pulwama.

Dr. Iram Shafi delivered the inaugural speech, setting the stage for an inspiring literary journey. Professor Hina Fayaz expressed her gratitude in the “Vote of Thanks,” and Sakeena Jabeen did an impeccable job as the event’s anchor.

The speakers at the event showered praise on The Kashmir Pulse for its pivotal role in providing a substantial platform for budding talents, especially authors and writers, both through the publication of “Perplexed Thoughts” and its consistent dedication to literary content on their website, kashmirpulse.com. The SP Headquarter, Mr. Showkat Rafiq Wani, specifically lauded The Kashmir Pulse team, including its Editor, Aasif Ganaie, and Contributor Sakeena Jabeen, for their significant contributions to various literary and awareness programs.

Aasif Ganaie, the Editor of The Kashmir Pulse, spoke passionately about “Perplexed Thoughts,” emphasizing that the anthology is a collective effort from over 30 authors. He described the book as a captivating journey that immerses readers in the multifaceted aspects of Kashmir, offering insights from both natives and visitors. The book is a testament to the region’s diverse perspectives, with contributions from both locals and individuals from outside Jammu and Kashmir.

The launch of “Perplexed Thoughts – Tales from Kashmir” was more than just an event; it was a celebration of the written word, an appreciation of the region’s rich literary heritage, and a promise of the bright future awaiting the literary talents of Kashmir.
