Member Parliament (MP) Fayaz Mir on Monday termed the decision of abrogating Article 370 “anti-youth” and said the move unboxed the door of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir which led thousands jobless since August 5, 2019. He said the aim of opposing the abolition of the special status of J&K was aimed at guarding the employment rights of local youth.
Speaking in Lok Sabha during zero hours in Kashmiri language, MP Fayaz Mir termed the decision of abrogating Article 370 an “anti-youth” move and said the decision paved the way in a surge in unemployment in the UT.
He at the occasion took up the issue of unprecedented hike in unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir and said the main aim of opposing the decision taken on August 5, 2019, was to protect and safeguard the livelihood and employment of local youth, who however has been badly hit with the unilateral decision of New Delhi.
“If we protested, opposed and denounced the decision of abrogation of Article 370, there was a reason and logic which New Delhi failed to perceive. Thousands of our youth have been unemployed after re-organization of J&K”, Mir said.
He also said that we had self-help groups, medical assistants, pharmacists and others whose livelihood was forcibly snatched in broad daylight. “Around 60,000 daily wagers were eagerly waiting for regularization since years but the abrogation move has left them panic, disappointed and vulnerable”, Mir said.
Fayaz Mir at the occasion appealed the Government of India (GoI) to revisit the policies that left youth of J&K jobless.
