No Radiologist in Trauma Hospital Pattan, Patients Suffer
Amid tall claims of augmenting the valley’s healthcare sector, Trauma Hospital Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is facing an acute shortage of Radiologists as a result of which patients are suffering.
According to reports, Trauma Hospital Pattan is facing a dearth of radiologists due to which patients of the concerned villages are suffering badly. As per locals, patients have no choice other than to approach private healthcare centers for getting investigated. They added though locals many times raised the issue however, no positive response came from the Government.
The said hospital is functioning as a non-Covid19 facility in north Kashmir and is catering to all emergency obstetrician cases of the district.
“There is no radiologist posted in the hospital though the administration has installed high-end USG machine for needy patients, which was donated by a local business tycoon from Singhpora Pattan a few years back. However patients are continuously suffering due to improper and inadequate healthcare facilities”, said locals.
“The hospital is catering bulk of non-Covid19 pregnancies on a routine basis so it was the responsibility of the administration to arrange a reputed radiologist on a priority basis as non-availability of this key position can prove disastrous for mother and baby”, locals added.
They appealed Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo to attach a lady Radiologist, currently posted at SDH Magam, in the hospital for the larger benefit of patients.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla Dr. GN Ittoo assured that he will take up the matter with concerned health officials and ensure the posting of radiologist on priority basis.
