NIA moves Delhi HC seeking death sentence for Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik
NIA has sought death sentence for Kashmiri separatist leader and JKLF chief Yasin Malik. The plea will be heard on Monday by Delhi High Court. Malik is currently serving a life sentence in a militant funding case.
Though, the NIA had demanded capital punishment for Malik before the trial court.
However, it was refused by the Court stating that the death penalty should be awarded only in exceptional cases “where the crime by its nature shocks the collective consciousness of the society.”
NIA’s plea is listed for hearing on Monday before a Division Bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh.
