NC, Allies Reject Waqf Bill, Urge Centre to Respect People’s Mandate: Tanvir Sadiq
Says we are working in coordinated way with LG administration and GoI
Srinagar, April 4 : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and its alliance partners on Thursday held an important legislative meeting in Srinagar, during which two key resolutions were passed.
The first resolution outrightly rejected the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025, calling it discriminatory and not in the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The second resolution urged the Government of India to respect the democratic mandate of the people, NC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq said.
He said the meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and attended by senior leaders and legislators from alliance parties.
Speaking after the meeting, NC leader Tanvir Sadiq said, “We are working in a coordinated way with the LG administration and the Government of India. But don’t take our cordial approach as our weakness, and don’t push us to the wall.”
Sadiq further stated that the alliance remains united in safeguarding the rights and aspirations of the people. He added that while the group continues to engage constructively with the administration, it will not hesitate to raise its voice against any unjust or unilateral decisions.
The meeting also focused on strengthening internal coordination among alliance partners and preparing a joint approach on key policy matters affecting the Union Territory. (KNS)
