IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar termed the Nagrota encounter reflects an attempt of Pakistan to disrupt BDC elections.

“Pakistan is trying for some time to infiltrate militants in Kashmir to disturb elections. In this context, Jammu police and security forces killed 4 militants. Their aim was to destabilize elections in the valley. We are ready to scuttle their all moves. We are providing security to candidates from tomorrow. They can go to the field for campaigning. There is no need to worry,” he said .
Regarding a question on the Kakapra Grenade attack, he said ” it was targetted at security forces but it exploded on civilians. We have identified the militant and will catch him soon.”
On being asked about the security to candidates, he said “it is difficult to provide security to every candidate, will give them collective security. Those who are going for campaigning will be provided double security and their campaigning area will be secured.”
He also said 200 to 250 militants are ready to Infiltrate the valley. We thwart the attempts of Pakistan which is desperate to send militants here.
