Militant associate arrested in Handwara, arms recovered: Police

Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a militant associate from the Mandigam area of Kralgund Qaziabad and recovered ammunition from his possession.
Reports said a joint team of 32RR, 92 Battalion CRPF, and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area.
During the search operation, one person was found in a suspicious condition who on seeing forces party tried to escape from the spot but was instantly chased and apprehended by forces.
The arrested person has been identified as Akeel Ahmad Parray son of Wali Mohammad resident of Mandigam Kralgund.
A top police officer while confirming the arrest said arms and ammunition have been recovered from the arrested person.
He said during questioning, it came to surface that the apprehended person is working with militant outfit LeT as an associate.
In this context, a case FIR No. 90/2020 U/s 7/25 I.A.Act., 16, 18, 20 ULAP Act has been registered in Police Station Kralgund. While the further investigation into the matter has taken up.
