Living with a disability

Adjusting to life with a disability can be a difficult transition. Saja Begam(45) wife of Abdul Gafar Mir from Salia Mattan, Anantnag is suffering from 99% disability from childhood.

Sajas ailing husband, a labourer by profession is facing a financial crisis as he cannot work anymore. Saja has adopted an 11-year-old boy, but due to her disability and economic crisis Saja cannot afford the medical treatment of her husband. Her husband has to visit SKIMS Soura once a week for treatment, all alone. Few neighbours are helping this distressed family on humanitarian grounds. Saja told Arising State that she has approached authorities at the District magistrate office several times and requested them to provide her mobility scooter, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. Saja and her family lives in a dilapidated building in salia Anantnag.

Meanwhile, Talking to Arising state District social welfare department officer Anantnag Peerzada Farhat assured to provide full support to Saja .
