Srinagar, June 21, 2026:  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joined hundreds of citizens at the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar to celebrate the International Day of Yoga, highlighting yoga’s role in achieving holistic well-being and inner balance.

Addressing participants on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor said that true health is not merely the absence of disease but a harmonious balance of the body, mind, and emotions. He emphasized that in today’s fast-paced world, where people are constantly distracted by screens, stress, and external pressures, yoga offers a path to self-awareness and inner peace.

“True health means balancing body, mind, and emotions. While modern life constantly pulls our attention outward to screens and stress, Yoga teaches us to turn inward,” the Lieutenant Governor remarked.

Expressing happiness over the widespread participation in Yoga Day celebrations across the Union Territory, Manoj Sinha praised the enthusiasm shown by people from all walks of life. He noted that the growing popularity of yoga reflects a collective commitment toward healthier lifestyles and mental well-being.

“It is wonderful to see such incredible enthusiasm across Jammu and Kashmir for the International Day of Yoga. Yoga truly unites the world and guides us toward a healthier, happier future,” he said.

The celebrations at Dal Lake witnessed participation from youth, women, senior citizens, government officials, and fitness enthusiasts, who performed various yoga asanas against the picturesque backdrop of Srinagar’s famous waterbody.

The Lieutenant Governor also acknowledged the contribution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in promoting yoga on the global stage. Since the United Nations adopted June 21 as the International Day of Yoga following India’s proposal, yoga has gained worldwide recognition as a powerful tool for physical fitness, mental wellness, and spiritual growth.

Across Jammu and Kashmir, large-scale yoga sessions were organised at schools, colleges, tourist destinations, parks, and public spaces. From the banks of the Jhelum River to border villages and remote mountain regions, people came together to celebrate the ancient practice, reinforcing the message of unity, wellness, and sustainable living.

Officials said that Yoga Day events across the Union Territory focused on encouraging citizens to adopt yoga as a regular part of their daily routine, helping reduce stress, improve physical health, and strengthen emotional resilience.

As Jammu and Kashmir witnessed enthusiastic participation in Yoga Day celebrations, the event at Dal Lake stood out as a symbol of the region’s growing embrace of wellness, mindfulness, and community harmony.
