Kulgam police arrests a bootlegger; recovers 60 bottles of illicit liquor

Kulgam, January 28; Continuing its drive against “inimical” elements, District Police Kulgam today arrested a bootlegger and recovered 60 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

Police party of Police station Kulgam led by Insp. Abdul Ahad under the supervision of DySP HQR Kulgam Shri. Ghulam Mohd Bhat-JKPS intercepted a car (Celerio) bearing registration number JK18B-5255 with one person on board. Going through checking officers present were able to recover 60 Bottles of Illicit Liquor from the car. The bootlegger namely Arsheed Ahmad Bhat @Gasha S/O Ghulam Hassan Bhat R/O Naikpora Kulgam was arrested and the vehicle used in commission of crime was seized on spot.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 09/2021 U/S 48, 50 Excise Act has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Kulgam Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
