Jama Masjid Reopens for Congregational Prayers After Ten Weeks: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Barred from Leading
Srinagar: Authorities on Friday allowed congregational prayers at the historic Jama Masjid here in Srinagar. The prayers took place in the Grand Mosque after it remained locked for ten consecutive Fridays.
Reports said that devotees in large numbers took part in prayers, while adequate security arrangements were put in place outside Jama Masjid to thwart any misadventure.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not allowed by authorities to lead the prayers as he was confined to his residence at Nigeen Srinagar.
