Hangul caught by wildlife team in Awantipora Kashmir

Awantipora, October 12: A Hangul was caught alive on Monday by a wildlife team in South Kashmir’s Awantipora tehsil.

An official told Arising State that the wildlife teams from Tral, Shopian, and Khangund ranges led by Wildlife Warden and Ranger officer Tral captured hangul physically at Buhoo village.

He said that the said Hangul was accordingly released in a good condition at National Park in Dachigam Kashmir.

Locals have however expressed resentment over the shifting of Hangul from Tral sanctuary to Dachigam, as the Shikargah Tral sanctuary has its own breeding center.

They demanded the immediate return of Hangul from Dachigam to Shikargah Breeding Center.

Meanwhile, Wildlife Range Officer, Tral, Iqbal Khursheed told Arising State that the animal has been given minor treatment and was released in a good condition at NP Dachigam.

He said that Conservation Breeding Center Shikargah Tral is still under work.

It’s pertinent to mention here that the center in Shikargah was established some seven to eight years back, with the motive to conserve the Hangul population.
