Gunfight underway in south Kashmir’s Kulgam

A gunfight broke out between security forces and militants in the Sighanpor area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir on Sunday sources said.

“An encounter has started at Sighanpor area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police said.

The gunfight broke out after a team of the security forces cordoned off a suspected place, said a police official.

He said that the hiding militants fired on the security forces after they approached their hideout, triggering a gunfight.
