GDC Tral Celebrates India’s Presidency in G20 & National Science Day

Pulwama: In Connection with Celebration of India’s Presidency in G20 & National Science Day, a debate along with an expert talk was organized on 28th February 2023 on the theme “Standard of Life & Diseases” at Government Degree College Tral under the banner of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

The Programme was organized by the Department of Zoology & Biochemistry in collaboration with other science departments. Almost 150 students and the faculty of the college attended the event.

The programme began with the Welcome address by Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Khanday, (Head of the department of Physics) GDC Tral. He welcomed all the participants and expressed his gratitude to Principal Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone for encouraging the organizers in organizing the event.

Prof. Shakeel gave a brief introduction about the significance of celebrating India’s Presidency in G20 & National Science Day. He encouraged the students to cultivate the quality of curiosity and to enrich their personality by focussing on self-learning.

Dr. Masood Majaz Ganaie (HOD Botany) in his expert talk on “Greed & Prejudice in Science Research” talked about bias & unethical approach adopted by the researchers while publishing their research. He encouraged the students to enrich their personality by focussing on sincere research. The talk was followed by presentations by students : Mansha Ashraf of B.Sc. 5th Semester, Najm ul Wahid of of B.Sc. 4th Semester, Aadil Farooq of B.Sc. 5th Semester & Sadiya Nisar of B.Sc. 2nd Semester.

The presenters deliberated on multiple topics related to different aspects of medical science. They also highlighted the role of Science in the development of human life & society in general. At the end of the presentations, the presenters were felicitated with the certificates of appreciation & prizes were given to winner- Sadiya Nisar & runner up- Mansha Ashraf.

The event was moderated by Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Malla (Head of the department of Environmental Science). Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Khan Mubashir Qayoom (HOD Biochemistry).
