Free Medical Camp held at KVK Malangpora Pulwama

Pulwama, 16 Dec: As part of the constant outreach programme, a day long Medical camp was organised jointly by KVK/ETC Pulwama and 64 Bn BSF at Malangpora in Pulwama in the KVK campus.

The camp was jointly inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie and Shri Ashok Yadav (IPS) IG BSF in presence of Prof. D.M. Makhdoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-K, DIG BSF S.S. Chandel, SSP Pulwama Mr. Mohd Yousuf Choudhary, Commandant 64 BN BSF Mr. Rajeev Bhardwaj Head KVK/ETC Pulwama, Prof. Javeed Ahmad Mugloo other officers from SKUAST-KK and security forces.

The programme witnessed the presence of more than 1500 villagers including senior citizens, children, women, men, and students from nearby schools. Free medical check up was conducted by a specialised team of doctors both from BSF and Health Department.

Large number of people who were part of the camp included Middle aged women who were having basic fitness issues related to cardiovascular and musculoskeletal system like knee, back & neck pain. Distribution of free medicines and awareness on contagious and lifestyle diseases was also carried out as part of the camp.

Furthermore, It is worth to mention that two skill based courses on ‘Basic Computer Course’ and “Public relations manager course” to be conducted at KVK Pulwama were also inaugurated and 15 no of computers were donated to Govt High School Malangpora and Padgampora, for establishment of computer labs.

During this day long event a cultural programme was also organized in which students from KVK/ETC Pulwama, Schools from adjacent villages, and personal from BSF performed different acts.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie while addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts put up by both BSF and KVK for such wonderful people centric initiatives. He also highlighted the steps SKUAST-K has taken in uplifting the morale of unemployed rural youth by making them employment generators rather than employment seekers.

Shri Ashok Yadav (IPS) emphasised the need for such events and programmes and said that such types of skill courses would go a long way in honing their entrepreneurial skills in any field they would choose. He also praised the KVK Pulwama for being at the forefront and being pro actively involved in all these need based youth centric programmes.

Prof. D.M. Makhdoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-K hailed the efforts of KVK/ETC Pulwama for inculcating entrepreneurship mindset in the youth and urged the participants to encash this opportunity in fulfilling their dreams.

Prof. Head KVK/ETC Pulwama, Prof. Javeed Ahmad Mugloo while concluding the programme thanked all the dignitaries for gracing the occasion. He further presented a comprehensive view of different initiatives taken by KVK/ETC Pulwama to help the unemployed youth of the district in livelihood generation. The locals of the area have appreciated these initiative of the KVK/ETC Malangpora (Press Release).
