Explosions in Tehran, Isfahan as Israel launches attacks

Share

Tehran, June 8: Explosions rocked Iran’s capital, Tehran, as well as the cities of Tabriz and Isfahan, after Israel launched strikes on military targets inside Iran in a major escalation of regional tensions. The attacks came hours after Iran fired a barrage of missiles toward northern Israel, accusing Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire through its military actions in Lebanon.

The latest exchange marks one of the most serious confrontations between the two countries since the ceasefire announced earlier this year. Iranian missiles were launched in response to Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, which reportedly killed at least two people and injured several others.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly urged restraint during a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking to the Financial Times, Trump said he was closely managing the situation and claimed that he “calls all the shots” regarding ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The renewed hostilities have heightened fears of a wider regional conflict, with international leaders calling for de-escalation and a return to diplomacy.
