Encounter breaks out in Ganpora Shopian
Shopian, May 28: An encounter broke out between militants and government forces in the Ganpora Arshipora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday afternoon.
Sources said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
Till this report was filed, the firing was underway between militants and security forces.
As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
