Accounts Frozen, Audit Ordered to Ensure Transparent Management
Srinagar, July 3: Acting on repeated representations from local residents, the J&K Waqf Board, under the directions of its Chairperson, Dr. Syed Darakhshaan Andrabi, has taken over the direct management of Seer Hamadaan Ziyarat Assar-i-Shareef, Jamia Masjid and all allied Waqf properties in Anantnag with immediate effect through Order No. 100 of 2026.
The decision aims to ensure transparent administration, safeguard Waqf assets, and strengthen institutional accountability. The Board has appointed an Administrator to take charge and prepare a complete inventory of all properties, assets, records and accounts.
Pending the formal transfer of records, all financial transactions have been frozen, and no withdrawals from the Waqf’s bank accounts shall be permitted without authorization from the J&K Waqf Board. A comprehensive audit and verification of all financial records and assets has also been ordered.
The Board has further directed that no individual or committee, except officers authorized by the J&K Waqf Board, shall manage the institution or collect donations on its behalf. The move reaffirms the Board’s commitment to transparent, accountable and efficient management of Waqf institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
