Srinagar, June 17: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Maqsood ul Zaman, IPS, designated Overall Supervisory Officer for security arrangements on the Baltal Axis for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, carried out a comprehensive on-ground assessment of infrastructure andmulti-layered security measuresat Baltal, Domail, and Sonamarg. The DIG expressed strong satisfaction with the existing security arrangements, infrastructure readiness and inter-agency coordination. He particularly appreciated the robust preparations made to ensure of pilgrim safety andcomfort. During the detailed inspection, the DIG reviewed critical aspects including crowd management, traffic regulation, emergency response mechanisms, medical facilities, adequate lighting, advanced CCTV surveilance, barrier systems and seamless coordination among al stakeholders. He emphasized that the safety and well-being of every devotee is the highest priority, with a firm commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards any security lapse. Interacting with senior officers and field personnel, DIG Maqsood ul Zaman lauded the dedication and professionalism of the teams on ground. He issued specific directions for immediate implementation of suggested improvements to further enhance operational efficiency and pilgrim experience. He was accompanied by Shri Raj Kumar, SSP– Commandant 8 JKAP-IR (Police Yatra Officer, Baltal), Shri Gh. Jeelani , SSP–Commandant 14JKAP, Shri Zuhaib Tanveer, SSP I/C Commandant 2 Women(I/CJPCR Baltal) and other officers of DistrictPolice Ganderbal.This proactive assessment underscores the administration’s unwavering resolve to ensure a safe, smooth and spiritualy fulfilling pilgrimage for lakhs of devotees.
