Causalities feared as massive avalanche hits Afarwat Peak in Gulmarg

Police say rescue ops launched, reports of causalities being corroborated

Srinagar Feb 01 : An avalanche on Wednesday afternoon struck Affarwat hills of famed tourist destination of gulmarg.

Officials said  that avalanche struck phase two of Affarwat hills of gulmarg. They said that reportedly four tourists are trapped while rescue operation has been launched.

Meanwhile Baramulla Police also confirmed in a tweet that a valanche hit the Afarwat peak Hapath Khud at famous ski resort in Gulmarg.

“Rescue operation has been launched by Baramulla Police alongwith other agencies. Reports of some skiers being trapped are being corroborated,” the police said, adding that futher details shall follow.
