Budgam Police arrested 02 drug Peddlers; contraband substance recovered

JULY 06: Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

During naka checking at Hussipora crossing, police party from Police Station Chadoora intercepted one motorcycle bearing registration number JK04G-8113 coming towards chadoora. When police party signalled the biker to stop, he and the pillion rider tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully stopped. During search of rider & pillion rider, police party recovered 22 polythene packets of Heroin like substance weighing about 04 grams & controlled drug Alprazolam 298 tablets from their possession.

The drug peddlers were arrested on spot, motorcycle used for commission of crime also seized and the accused were subsequently identified as:-
1.Asif Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Gund Maqsood Chadoora
2. Rayees Mushtaq Sofi son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi resident of Chrawani Charar-e Shareef

Case FIR number 124/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation set into motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
