Bodies of Three Youths Retrieved from Jhelum After Hajin Drowning Incident

Bandipora, May 08: Three youths tragically lost their lives after drowning in the River Jhelum in the Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday, officials said.

Officials told KNC that the incident took place in the Check Chandergeer area when the trio was reportedly washing tent material along the riverbank and accidentally slipped into the river.

Soon after the incident, locals and volunteers launched a rescue operation. Two bodies were recovered during the initial search, while the third body was retrieved later after sustained rescue efforts.

The deceased have been identified as Adil Ahmad Dar (18), son of Bashir Ahmad Dar; Sameer Ahmad Dar (22), son of Mohammad Jamal Dar; and Sohail Ahmad Dar (22), son of Ghulam Nabi Dar — all residents of Chandergeer, Hajin.

Officials said the bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for completion of medico-legal formalities. (KNC)
