Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden Opens in Srinagar, Heralding Spring in Kashmir

Srinagar: Marking the arrival of spring in Kashmir, Asia’s largest Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden was opened to the public on Monday, ushering in the Valley’s much-awaited tourism season.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the iconic garden located at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range in Srinagar. The garden, overlooking the picturesque Dal Lake, is expected to attract thousands of tourists and locals eager to witness the spectacular bloom.

Spread across beautifully terraced slopes, the garden is set to come alive with lakhs of tulips in vibrant colours and varieties, creating a breathtaking floral landscape for visitors.

Officials said that more than 70 varieties of tulips have been planted this year. Besides tulips, several other spring flowers including hyacinths, daffodils, muscari and ranunculus have also been planted to enrich the garden’s floral display.

Every year, the Tulip Garden becomes one of Kashmir’s most popular attractions during spring, drawing large numbers of tourists, nature enthusiasts and photographers from across India and abroad.

Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to manage the expected surge of visitors during the blooming season, including transport facilities, parking arrangements, security deployment and other visitor amenities to ensure a smooth experience for tourists.
