Sajad Lone Critiques India’s Technological Stagnation and Cultural Obsessions
Srinagar, Nov 28: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) Chief Sajad Lone has expressed deep concern over India’s lack of technological innovation, lamenting what he described as an excessive preoccupation with mythologizing temples.
In a detailed post on X, Lone criticized recent legal pursuits claiming the existence of hidden temples, including one allegedly within Ajmer Dargah Sharif. He argued that while the world embraces technological revolutions like Artificial Intelligence, India lags behind as a nation of users rather than inventors.
“Our Indian tech revolution is as users, not as inventors. Our desire for invention seems to be invested in the obsession to invent hidden temples,” Lone remarked. He further noted that even the educated populace, who should lead India’s tech innovation, appears engrossed in perpetuating such mythologies.
Drawing comparisons with Dubai, Lone praised its architectural advancements and the ethos of tolerance and respect prevalent there. Reflecting on Dubai’s transformation since the 1990s, he said, “Dubai has evolved magnificently. It deserves pride in its journey to excellence. Meanwhile, India seems to have regressed, with electoral victories leaving the country soulless and in search of its essence.”
Lone also underscored Ajmer’s historic significance as a spiritual hub, revered by people of all faiths for its inclusive legacy. He described it as a beacon of unity and lamented the recent controversies surrounding it.
Addressing the ideological divide in India, Lone reaffirmed his commitment to moderation and tolerance, drawing parallels to Kashmir’s internal struggles between extremist and moderate ideologies. “The ideology of moderation, tolerance, and mutual respect will prevail,” he asserted, emphasizing that the battle for these values is far from over.
His remarks serve as a critique of India’s current trajectory, calling for a renewed focus on innovation, inclusivity, and the country’s spiritual legacy.
