Anantnag: In a peculiar incident in District Anantnag, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) has allegedly violated government norms by bypassing the standard procedures and directly issuing a letter to the Headmaster of MS Achabal. The letter directed the headmaster to allow a teacher and two girl students to participate in a program in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Sources informed Arising State that NYKS Anantnag circumvented departmental protocols by sending the letter directly to MS Achabal instead of issuing the order through registered youth clubs in the district, as mandated. The letter in question, bearing reference number NYK/Ang/DYO/2024-2025/133-134 and dated 02-11-2024, instructed the headmaster to permit student participation in the program.

Sources further revealed that the letter originated from the NYKS office in Anantnag, with an employee signing on behalf of the Deputy Director. The matter has raised concerns, prompting calls for an official investigation.

Additionally, the Headmaster of MS Achabal allegedly breached regulations by allowing the students to travel outside the Union Territory (UT) without obtaining prior approval from the education department. This prompted the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Anantnag to take action against the headmaster and form a four-member committee to probe the incident.

The NYKS, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, plays a crucial role in community development and youth empowerment through its network of voluntary youth clubs.

When approached for comment, the Deputy Director of NYKS firmly denied issuing any such letter or violating government norms. “I did not send any letter to the said school,” the Deputy Director stated. When questioned about the signature on the letter, she clarified, “The signature is not mine; it belongs to Nishata, an APA employee in the NYKS office, Anantnag.” The Deputy Director subsequently ended the call.

The incident has raised significant concerns, and officials are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the extent of procedural violations and hold those responsible accountable.
