Cloudburst Devastates Ganderbal Village, Leaving Homes, Mosque, and School Damaged
Srinagar, July 29: In a calamitous event on Saturday, a cloudburst struck Gujar Pati Prang, a village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, causing extensive damage to residential properties, a government school, and a Mosque.
The disaster was triggered by heavy rainfall that preceded the cloudburst, leading to a sudden and overwhelming deluge that wreaked havoc in the area.
As a result of the natural disaster, several residential houses were severely impacted, leaving residents in distress. Additionally, the local Mosque, which held significant cultural and religious value to the community, suffered considerable damage.
The village’s government school, a hub of education for the young minds of the region, also bore the brunt of the cloudburst’s fury, adding to the already dire situation for the affected community.
An official said that a flash flood triggered by heavy rains occurred in a Stream passing through the village.
There was no loss of life or injuries reported, he said.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Kangan Javid Rather, Tehsildar Kangan Dr Haroon Rashid along with Revenue department , SHO Turk Zahoor and irrigation and flood control department, visited the spot to assess the situation.
