Violation of drugs and cosmetic Act: Operation of 6 medical shops closed down by Drug controller authority in Anantnag and Kulgam

Anantnag: On the directions of Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir Division, Nighat Jabeen, Drug control authority Anantnag and Kulgam jointly conducted raids and inspections of medical sale establishments in the hotspot areas of twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam.

A team of drug control officers was constituted by the department and the raids were conducted in twin districts of south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Kulgam including at Baba Mohalla Bijbehara, Pazalpora Bijbehara, Sk Colony Anantnag, Kund area of Kulgam and Qazigund.

 

During the raids, the Operation of 06 medical shops was closed down on the spot for violation of different provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The team also seized a consignment of pharmaceutical preparations with addiction liability from the medical shop of Fayaz Ahmad of Baba Mohalla resident of Bijbehara who fails to produce the purchase and sale records of the seized material on the spot.

Furthermore, On the directions of additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, the team also raided the medical shop and house of Javid Ahmad Bhat at S.k Colony Anantnag for having inputs of stocking medicines prone to addiction at his residential house. Operation of his medical shop also stands closed for different violations of the Act. Officials said.

The Chemists in the Districts Anantnag and Kulgam were impressed to maintain the records of all the scheduled H1 medicines properly as per the prescribed norms and were asked to keep a proper vigil on every suspicious person. They were asked to share the responsibility of one and all to contribute in the eradication of the drug menace.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Drug Controller, Kashmir emphasizes all chemists, particularly in the far-flung areas who still fail to install CCTV cameras to adhere to the directive within weeks’ time. The Failures may invite strict administrative action under the purview of provisions of the Act. Official said.
