Pulwama,01 June: The Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) on Tuesday observed ‘black day’ at schools in several parts of the Kashmir valley demanding release of their wages and regularisation.
The workers hoisted black flags in schools to mark the protest against the government for failing to fulfill their demands.
One of the contingent paid workers told Arising State that “govt failed” to release their wages for around four years.
He said that with delay in releasing their wages, all the contingent paid workers and their families suffer on daily basis.
Abdul Gani Malik, State President, All contingent paid and cook employees, has said that goverment has been giving assurances only, but failed to fulfill the demands of CPWs on ground.
He said that “despite back to back requests since 2017, even minimum wages were not applied by the education department till the date.”
The workers said that they “played a vital role in 2016 unrest, by giving night duties, at the time unknown persons had burnt some schools in the valley.”
They sought immediate intervention of higher ups into the matter, and demanded release of wages and regularisation.
